This selection of watercolor paintings by Thayne Covert, UP senior and mechanical engineering major, vibrantly illustrates his time as a college student and showcases his development as an artist over this period. Thayne’s works include depictions of UP and the city of Portland, as well as images from study abroad and other experiences that have helped him grow as an individual. Beginning with more architectural line art, his process has evolved to leverage the versatility of watercolors along with expanding his skills to portray more organic subjects. For Thayne, creating artwork is a reflective process, and he hopes his paintings will evoke moments of connection and reflection for viewers as well.
