Searching for Homunculus, Mark Pitzer

About the Exhibit:

Searching for Homunculus is a series of paintings and sculptures that attempt to highlight the disparities between how we experience conscious awareness and how the brain may actually function. Several of these sculptures have percolated up from rambling discussions with students and friends about how the brain might have evolved, how it might work or how it probably doesn't work. Scientific studies of the brain are casting a new light on age-old questions regarding free will, conscious awareness and visual perception.
