Description
The NAE GRAND CHALLENGES FOR ENGINEERING, created in 2008, presents an aspirational vision of what engineering needs to deliver to all people on the planet in the 21st century. This vision is: “Continuation of life on the planet, making our world more sustainable, secure, healthy, and joyful.”
The Shiley School of Engineering has adopted the NAE Grand Challenges to inspire practical projects for students through the Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP), The culminating experience of this program is a presentation by each of the scholars addressing their grand challenge during their time at the University of Portland.
We have one University of Portland GCSP graduate this year. The GCSP presentation will address the basic theme of continuing life on the planet and making our world more sustainable, secure, healthy and joyful.
