Abstract

The article presents an interview with Gertrude Rice, known as Trudy, an Oregon-based African American registered nurse (RN) since 1968. Topics include her nursing education at Portland Community College (PCC), her employment at Oregon's Holladay Park Hospital and in the State Health Division, and her experiences as an African American supervisor.
